It may be that Automator is set up to grab the t.v. It was after that change when my troubles began. They've also dropped WMV file downloads in iPlayer Downloads, and you can no longer change your download directory - it doesn't seem to use "Repository".
That's apparently a major rewrite - they don't now use Adobe Air as upgrades to that programme rippled back causing problems in iPlayer Desktop. I used to run iPlayer Desktop, but they changed that last week to a new iPlayer Downloads app. Strange - I'm running OSX 10.8.5 and iPlayer Automator 1.5.5 9586) and still can't get it running.
